The Grants to End Homelessness program provides seed funding for initiatives, services, advocacy and research that will contribute to the goal of ending homelessness in Australia. Dr Jessie Hohmann
Dr. Hohmann joined UTS Faculty of Law as Associate Professor in 2019. She is an internationally recognised expert on the right to housing in international law. Her research also engages with the material culture, objects and materiality of international law, and with Indigenous Peoples and international law. Her 2013 monograph The Right to Housing: Law, Concepts, Possibilities (Hart) was shortlisted for the Society of Legal Scholars Peter Birks Prize for Outstanding Legal Scholarship. She is also the editor of Hohmann and Joyce (eds) International Law Objects (OUP 2018) and Hohmann and Weller (eds) The UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples: A Commentary (OUP 2018).
Before joining UTS she was Senior Lecturer in Law at Queen Mary, University of London (2012-2019), and held a British Academy Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Cambridge (2009-2012). She held an Independent Social Research Foundation Early Career Fellowship, pursuing research on the materiality and objects of international law in 2017-18.
Dr. Hohmann holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge, a LLM from Sydney Universtity, a LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School (York University) and a BA from the University of Guelph.
Fiona Caniglia, Executive Director, Q Shelter
Fiona Caniglia has been Executive Director of Q Shelter since 2018. She has qualifications in both social work and social planning and has extensive experience across government, community services, and private industries. Fiona shares Q Shelter’s vision of a home for every Queenslander.
Anni Gethin, Executive Director Brigid Justice
Anni Gethin is a lawyer and Executive Director of Brigid Justice, a law firm for women victim/survivors of domestic violence. Her career changed to law after witnessing the injustices women and children face in the legal system.
Stacey Aslangul, CEO St Kilda Gatehouse
Stacey has many years of experience in community services and pastoral leadership. In 2020 Stacey commenced as CEO with St Kilda Gatehouse however has been involved with the organisation for over 20 years. She is a strong advocate for kindness, justice and empowering women.
Andrew Bament, Manager, Safe Homes portfolio, CatholicCare
Andrew is the manager of our Safe Homes portfolio with CatholicCare. He has worked in community services for nine years and has a finance background. Andrew grew dissatisfied with budgets and spreadsheets and wanted to do something more meaningful for the community. He resigned from a service role and began working for CatholicCare. Andrew is “an unashamed fighter for the underdog” and works to bring empathy and compassion back to society.
Julie Sneddon, Director of Mission, Cana Communities
Julie is the Director of Mission at Cana Communities, and has worked in community roles for many years. Julie has BA in counselling and has further studied addiction, trauma and Indigenous culture. Julie was the recipient of the 2019 Cath Leary Social Justice Award, an award from the Mercy Foundation that recognises an individual’s outstanding contribution to social justice in Australia.
