Navigating new pathways after prison

A Social Justice Small Grants to Prison Fellowship Australia is helping women navigate life after prison. The project helps reduce social isolation, assists women to connect to community services and build new supportive relationships.

The project assisted 46 women who have left or about to leave a correctional facility. Women are supported from 6 months before they leave prison and up to 12 months post release.

As a result of the project, it is estimated that 200 female prisoners have directly or indirectly benefitted from this program.

The project is helping women change their expectations of the future to successfully reintegrate with community connections and support.

Through increased opportunities made available by this  project, PFA will continue to assist women in the pre-release, pre-parole, reintegration, release and non-recidivism of women who previously felt completely unsupported and without hope.

“This grant has changed the course of many women’s lives. We can’t always measure how much, as we don’t know what the outcomes would have been without it, but through our observations and the feedback of women and people involved in the prisons, we can see a well above average success rate for women who have been involved. So, thank you!”
