Transfer of Trustees
It is with much hope and peace that I write to you on behalf of the Sisters of Mercy North Sydney, the Trustees of the Mercy Foundation. Over the years the Congregation has transitioned various ministries to other Trustees to ensure their future and security. After much discernment and due diligence, our Congregation has resolved to transition the canonical sponsorship and civil ownership of the Mercy Foundation to Mercy Partners. This transition will ensure the heritage, traditions and charism of the Sisters of Mercy North Sydney remain at the forefront of the Foundation’s identity.
Mercy Partners is a pontifical Public Juridic Person (PJP) established in 2008. It is a multi-charism PJP sponsoring and owning ministries of Sisters of Mercy Brisbane, Sisters of Mercy Parramatta, Institute of the Sisters of Mercy Australia & Papua New Guinea (ISMAPNG), Presentation Sisters of Queensland and Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception. In addition, Mater Hospital Group, Holy Cross Services and Mercy Community Services Group are also under the sponsorship and ownership of this entity.
Mercy Partners Limited is the civil operating entity of the Mercy Partners PJP and as a result of our educational ministry previously transitioned we, the Trustees of the Sisters of Mercy North Sydney, were admitted as a Member of the Mercy Partners Limited company and are a Canonical Steward. The only change that the Mercy Foundation will incur, is a change from the Sisters of Mercy as Trustees to Mercy Partners as Trustee. Under the governance of the Board and CEO there will be no change to the day to day operations of the Mercy Foundation.
It is with deep gratitude and absolute faith in Mercy Partners we take this step to secure a strong future for Mercy Foundation embedded in Mercy Values and at the Service of Human Dignity.
