The Mercy Foundation is dedicated to ending homelessness, especially for women and individuals experiencing long term homelessness. Everybody needs a safe, secure and affordable home to live a dignified and healthy life. Since 2008, the Grants to End Homelessness program has funded numerous projects, proving that homelessness is solvable. Projects that help individuals secure housing, coupled with tailored supports to deal with any challenges, solve homelessness.
The Home in a Box project provides brand new, high-quality home wares to help families and individuals who have experienced chronic homelessness to set up their homes once they move into housing. This project has proven to be a valuable contribution in helping families and individuals set up a well-equipped home and move on with their lives. Since January, we have helped create warm and welcoming homes for 78 households. Your generous donations have helped us meet this need.
We continue to be inspired by the many community groups and organisations working to address local disadvantage. This year we are funding 15 projects through the Social Justice Small Grants program. These include projects giving young people in Condoblin the same opportunities as their city peers to undertake work experience; helping female Aboriginal students to improve their literacy skills and encourage tertiary education; breaking down the barriers to employment encountered by disadvantaged migrant women with overseas qualifications; and training Aboriginal Elders to facilitate restorative justice interventions in WA.
We are building our capacity to better address modern slavery in Australia and we will have exciting news to share with you in the coming months.
Thank you for your support of the Mercy Foundation, we greatly appreciate your endorsement of our work. All donations over $2 to the Mercy Foundation are tax-deductible. If you wish to support our work, please donate here or call our friendly team on 02 9911 7390.
