The Hidden Faces of Homelessness research report

UNANIMA International released their latest publication on homelessness in February 2025. The publication, The Hidden Faces of Homelessness, provides updated research and new perspectives on homelessness across the world.

The publication features:

➢ Critical analysis and insights into the underlying causes of family homelessness, including structural, systemic, and socio-economic factors.
➢ Examples of best practice initiatives, programs, or policies that have effectively addressed and/or
reduced family homelessness.
➢ Emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in addressing family homelessness,
➢ Evidence-based policy recommendations aimed at preventing and alleviating homelessness, enhancing housing access, and promoting inclusive urban development.

This new publication has a chapter devoted to Australia as a case study. The chapter provides an in-depth article by Jocelyn Bignold, CEO of McAuley Community Services in Victoria, providing details about the experience of homelessness in Australia and  the work of McAuley Community Services, and an overview of homelessness in Australia by the Mercy Foundation’s CEO, Sue Mowbray.
